01

Purpose of These Guidelines

FindLankan is designed to help people discover Sri Lankan businesses, services and professionals across the United Arab Emirates, while also providing a platform for relevant employment opportunities.

These Listing Guidelines help us maintain a platform that is useful, relevant, accurate and trustworthy for the community.

Our basic listing principle

Submit genuine and accurate information, make sure you are authorised to publish it, and keep your listing or job vacancy up to date.

02

Who Can List on FindLankan?

FindLankan's Business Directory and Professional Directory primarily focus on businesses, services and professionals relevant to the Sri Lankan community in the UAE.

Examples may include:

  • Sri Lankan-owned or operated businesses in the UAE.
  • Businesses serving or specialising in services relevant to the Sri Lankan community in the UAE.
  • Sri Lankan professionals working or offering professional services in the UAE.
  • Organisations, community services or other entities genuinely relevant to FindLankan's directory purpose.

Job listings have broader eligibility

An employer does not have to be a Sri Lankan business to post a job on FindLankan. Employers and organisations may submit genuine UAE job opportunities that are relevant to people using the FindLankan platform.

FindLankan may determine whether a submission is sufficiently relevant to the purpose of the platform.

03

Business Listings

Use a Business Listing when you are registering a business, company, shop, restaurant, organisation or service provider.

Business information should accurately represent the business being listed.

Where applicable, provide:

  • The genuine business name.
  • The most appropriate business category.
  • The correct Emirate and area.
  • Current business contact information.
  • An accurate description of the business.
  • Current opening hours.
  • The business's own website and social media links.
  • Images and logos you are authorised to use.
04

Professional Profiles

Professional Profiles are intended for individual professionals rather than businesses.

Examples may include professionals working in fields such as accounting, engineering, healthcare, education, IT, design, marketing, photography and other professional sectors represented within FindLankan.

Professional profiles should use genuine information about the person being listed.

Do not create a Professional Profile using another person's name, photograph, qualifications or contact information without their permission.

05

Job Listings

The FindLankan Jobs section allows employers and authorised representatives to advertise genuine employment opportunities in the UAE.

A business does not need to have an existing FindLankan Business Listing before posting a job.

Where applicable, a job listing should provide clear and accurate information including:

  • The genuine job title.
  • The appropriate job category.
  • Employment type, such as Full Time, Part Time, Contract, Temporary, Internship or Freelance.
  • Whether the role is On-site, Hybrid or Remote.
  • The correct Emirate, area and work location where applicable.
  • The employer or organisation name.
  • An accurate description of the role.
  • Genuine requirements and qualifications.
  • Salary information where the employer chooses to disclose it.
  • Benefits where applicable.
  • A valid method for candidates to apply.
  • An accurate application deadline where one applies.

06

Job Posting Standards

Job advertisements should represent genuine vacancies and provide candidates with enough information to understand the opportunity before applying.

Job listings should not:

  • Advertise a position that does not genuinely exist.
  • Use misleading job titles, salary information or descriptions.
  • Impersonate another employer or organisation.
  • Falsely claim to represent another company.
  • Collect personal information for purposes unrelated to recruitment.
  • Promote unlawful employment or recruitment practices.
  • Contain malicious, deceptive or unrelated external links.
  • Be repeatedly submitted merely to gain additional visibility.

Employers are responsible for ensuring that their vacancy and recruitment practices comply with applicable UAE laws and requirements.

07

Job Safety & Recruitment Fees

Job seekers should never send money or sensitive banking information simply to apply for a job.

If a job advertisement appears suspicious, misleading or fraudulent, please report it to FindLankan.

FindLankan provides a platform for employers to publish vacancies but is not normally the employer, recruiter or employment agency for jobs advertised by third parties.

Job seekers should independently evaluate an employer and vacancy before providing personal information, attending interviews, accepting employment or entering into any arrangement.

Employers must not use FindLankan job listings to facilitate scams, fraudulent recruitment, identity theft or other unlawful activity.

08

You Must Be Authorised to Submit Content

You should only submit a business listing, professional profile or job vacancy when you are authorised to provide the information and request its publication.

For example, you may be:

  • The business owner.
  • An authorised employee or manager.
  • An authorised marketing, HR or administrative representative.
  • The professional named in the profile.
  • An employer or authorised recruiter posting a genuine vacancy.
  • A person who has received permission from the relevant business, professional or employer.
Do not create listings or job advertisements for other people or organisations without appropriate permission.

FindLankan may request clarification or evidence of authority where ownership, representation or permission is disputed.

09

Provide Accurate Information

Information submitted to FindLankan should be accurate, genuine and not intentionally misleading.

Do not make false or misleading claims about matters such as:

  • Services offered.
  • Professional experience.
  • Qualifications.
  • Licences or approvals.
  • Awards or certifications.
  • Business or job locations.
  • Prices, salaries or promotions.
  • Employment conditions.
  • Business relationships.
  • Authorised distributorships.
  • Any other information that may materially mislead visitors.

If information changes, listing owners and employers should update their content where reasonably possible.

10

Public Contact Details

Remember: published information is public.

Contact information you provide for publication may be visible to anyone visiting FindLankan.

This may include:

  • Telephone number
  • WhatsApp number
  • Public email address
  • Application email address
  • Website
  • Work or business location
  • Social media profiles
  • External application links

Only provide contact information that you are authorised and comfortable making publicly available.

Visitors may use the published information to contact you.

Publicly displayed information may also be copied, saved or shared by third parties outside FindLankan's control.

Public contact information can attract unsolicited communications.

Publishing your phone number, WhatsApp number or email address may result in calls, messages or emails from visitors or other third parties.

11

Listing Titles & Descriptions

Keep business names, professional information, job titles and descriptions clear, relevant and informative.

Content should accurately explain the business, professional service or employment opportunity being presented.

Please avoid:

  • Keyword stuffing.
  • Repeated promotional phrases.
  • Misleading claims.
  • Irrelevant text.
  • Excessive use of capital letters.
  • Unnecessary symbols or promotional spam.
  • Content copied from another business, professional or employer without permission.
12

Logos, Photos & Images

Images should genuinely relate to the business, professional or employer being represented.

You should have the necessary rights or permission to upload any logo, photograph, graphic or other image.

Suitable images include:

  • Your business or employer logo.
  • Photographs of your business premises.
  • Images of products or services you are authorised to display.
  • A professional profile photograph of yourself.

Do not upload:

  • Images belonging to another business or organisation without permission.
  • Misleading images.
  • Unlawful or inappropriate material.
  • Images that violate another person's privacy or intellectual property rights.
13

Duplicate Listings & Job Posts

Avoid creating multiple listings for the same business or professional merely to gain additional visibility.

Employers should also avoid repeatedly posting the same vacancy merely to keep it at the top of job results.

FindLankan may merge, reject, expire, hide or remove duplicate content.

A business with genuinely separate UAE branches may be treated differently where separate listings would provide useful and accurate information to visitors.

Separate job listings may also be appropriate for genuinely different roles or locations.

14

Prohibited Listings & Content

FindLankan may reject or remove content that involves activity that is unlawful, deceptive or otherwise inappropriate for the platform.

This may include:

  • Fraudulent or intentionally deceptive listings or job advertisements.
  • Impersonation of another business, organisation or individual.
  • Illegal goods, services or activities.
  • Fake or misleading employment opportunities.
  • Recruitment scams or attempts to obtain money or sensitive information through deception.
  • Content that unlawfully infringes copyright, trademarks or other intellectual property rights.
  • Content that unlawfully violates another person's privacy.
  • Malicious links, malware or attempts to compromise users or the website.
  • Spam or automated submissions.
  • False qualifications, licences or accreditations.
  • Content that is otherwise prohibited by applicable law.

FindLankan may also decline submissions that are unrelated to the purpose of the platform.

15

Review & Approval

Submitting a business listing, professional profile or job vacancy does not automatically guarantee publication.

FindLankan may review submitted content before or after publication.

During review, we may:

  • Approve the submission.
  • Request additional information.
  • Request corrections.
  • Correct obvious formatting or categorisation issues.
  • Reject a submission that does not meet these guidelines.
  • Temporarily hide content while an issue is investigated.

Review or approval by FindLankan does not mean that every statement, employer, qualification, vacancy or other claim has been independently verified.

16

Verified Listings

FindLankan may offer a verification system for certain businesses or professionals.

The specific checks required for verification may depend on the type of listing and the verification process available at the time.

Verified does not mean endorsed.

A FindLankan verification badge should not be interpreted as a guarantee of service quality, financial reliability, professional competence or transaction safety.

FindLankan may remove verification status if relevant information changes or if there is a reasonable basis to believe the verification is no longer appropriate.

17

Featured & Promoted Content

FindLankan may provide Featured, promoted or enhanced options for eligible listings or job advertisements.

Such content may receive additional visibility or placement within the platform.

Featured status does not mean FindLankan endorses, recommends or guarantees the business, professional, employer or vacancy.

If paid options are introduced, additional terms and pricing conditions may apply.

18

Keep Your Information Updated

Listing owners and employers should take reasonable steps to keep their information current.

Please update your content when important information changes, particularly:

  • Telephone or WhatsApp numbers.
  • Email addresses.
  • Business or job location.
  • Opening hours.
  • Website addresses.
  • Business status.
  • Services offered.
  • Professional or company information.
  • Job availability.
  • Application deadlines.
  • Application methods.

Close vacancies when they are no longer available.

Employers should make a job inactive when the position has been filled or is no longer accepting applications.

Job advertisements may also automatically expire according to FindLankan's job listing rules.

Outdated content may be corrected, expired, hidden or removed where appropriate.

19

Reporting Incorrect or Suspicious Content

If you believe a business listing, professional profile or job advertisement contains incorrect information, impersonates another business or person, infringes rights, appears fraudulent or otherwise violates these guidelines, please report it to FindLankan.

For job advertisements, this includes suspicious recruitment practices, fake vacancies or attempts to obtain money or sensitive information through deception.

Provide enough information for us to understand and review the issue.

  • Contains materially false or misleading information.
  • Has been submitted without appropriate authority.
  • Is fraudulent, spam or abusive.
  • Creates a security or legal concern.
  • Is no longer operating, available or has become materially outdated.
